Learners use Spanish words for shapes and numbers, and give each other instructions to create the shape using language only (no peeping). Encourage the use of Spanglish - use the Spanish words you can and the English words to supplement.

I present the shapes and each child should draw the relevant shape next to the word on their sheet. Learners then give each other instructions using some Spanish to build the given shape with the material given (playdough etc.)

Give each child a sheet to cut up, and 5 white slips and one yellow slip. Children play in teams, hiding the slips under the people on the cards, telling the team members who has the golden card and why, then trying to remember where each person has hidden the card.

Parts of the body to shake are indicated and labelled in these cards, which learners use to play simon says (or Pepe dice) with their peers.

Game cards give instructions in Spanish, then the children create their own mini version to play at the table.

There are 3 games on the sheet. Game 1, each child chooses 4 items of clothing from the illustrated vocab given, and writes them in game 1 column. Then the first learners to tick off their 4 items are the winners.

Learners need to place their treasure and hunt for it using coordinates. Clues can be given out using the hot, warm, cold system, which can then transform into a physical game in a large room.

There are sentences to trace over and space for children to put their faces. I like to get passport photos of the children and they can cut out their faces and stick them in.

The idea is for the children to colour strips of paper as the words indicate (all red, mostly red, a little red) and then cut them out. The learners follow the teacher's Spanish instructions to make shapes with their strips of paper.

I teach the body parts with a game of simon says. The learners match body parts to words on a sheet, then after a quick revision of numbers 1-5 learners comment on the monsters. Then they choose one or more monsters to draw.

After playing a traffic light game in the yard (rojo stop, amarillo, slow, verde fast) the children can colour in these lights and take them home. I translate the instructions to Spanish after a few goes.
